[1] pp95-101: Academic racism common of the time. Lüthi superimposes European viewpoints during his analysis as a yardstick for cultural sophistication. This ends up leading to statements that are misguided at best. Stick to Lüthi for his analysis of western folklore.
It should be noted that since this book is a translation from the German 1962 publication I don’t have the capacity to gauge how much of the tone is the work of Lüthi himself compared to his translators.
